What to do on those days you feel like you didn’t accomplish anything.

I had a small breakdown today. Okay, who am I kidding, it was a big breakdown…

I was super frustrated with myself for not “doing anything.” (Have you ever done this?)

But after venting to both my fiance and my BFF, I had to stop and realize that I didn’t NOT do anything today. I got out of bed. I moved my body, I listened to an uplifting podcast, I did laundry, I gave my dog a bath, took him on 3 walks, did dishes, I ate nourishing food. I talked to my BFF about marketing strategies, and had my weekly call with my coach.

After realizing that, I also realized that we really need to stop beating ourselves up on days we feel like we aren’t doing anything, and change the conversation to I didn’t do anything today, to what DID I do today? And be proud of ourselves for that. For showing up, no matter what got done.

Then we can reflect, and look back and find meaning in the why, right?

Why didn’t I get more done?

What was that teaching me?

What can I do differently next time?

How can I change the conversation in my mind?

How can I talk a little nicer to myself next time?

How can I protect my energy and prioritize better?

As a former perfectionist and high achiever, these things definitely did not come naturally to me. But I’ve learned through practice.

Yes, I’m tired.

Yes, I’m frustrated.

But sometimes, we need to remember that the small things are the big things.

And we can’t beat ourselves up over the little things because they add up to helping us with the big things.

Anyways, those are my thoughts about my little breakdown today, because I hope I’m not the only one who has days like these and I want you to know you’re not alone when you do feel like this.
